Safety Net...Children Awaiting Sponsors

Safety Net Sponsors
Safety Net sponsors are a critical part of our child care team.  Sponsors “adopt” a child during the critical time they are in one of our three homes.  Sponsors surround each individual boy and girl with prayer and help provide for their daily care.  Special prayer alerts are sent to sponsors by e-mail in times of change in the child’s status such as an illness or for a special joy such as reunification with a family.  Additionally, each quarter an e-mail update with a picture keeps you connected to your child or the children you sponsor.

A large part of our ministry is to find a suitable, stable family for the children either from the extended family or through adoption. We never know how long an individual child will be with us, so when a child moves into a family you can choose another child who needs extra care through a crisis time.

Safety Net sponsor, Maureen writes:
“Our whole family reads the updates and our refrigerator is full of pictures. Our children have prayed for our sponsored children every day and are always excited to see the new pictures and updates.  Thank you for including us in these precious lives.”  Maureen and her family are now sponsoring their 8th child. Throughout their four years as Safety Net Sponsors, Maureen and her family have been involved in the process of rejoicing as their sponsored children became reunited with healed families or joined with new families through adoption.

Luyando Sophia is about 20 months old, although age is never certain with a child like Sophia. She was found by a Good Samaritan in a poor, housing development (called a compound) in a rural area of Zambia. The police brought her to the House of Moses where the nurses gave her the name Sophia. Nothing more is known about this child and no one has come forward to search of her.  She is healthy and active and is putting on weight now that she has a normal routine, good food, and love. We will work with the police to try to locate any parent or family. If family is found it may be possible to support them in bringing Sophia back into the home. Please join us in praying for this beautiful little girl and consider sponsoring her.

Luyando At just two weeks of age, both of Henry’s parents died.  He had only an aged grandmother who is too weak and frail to care for him herself.  She sought help from the church she attends.  The pastor recommended she take the baby to the House of Moses until a plan could be made for him to be placed in a stable family.  Henry is now four months old.  He is able to sit up on his own and is actually a bit “chubby.”  He loves to be held and cuddled, and he loves his grandmother, who visits him from time to time.  It is unclear at this point if there are any other relatives that might be able to care for Henry.  God has a plan for this little guy; but for now, we are his family and need to lift him up to the Lord.  Please join us in praying for Henry and consider sponsoring him until he has been placed into a family.

LuyandoJayden was brought to the Bill and Bette Bryant Crisis Nursery on August 5th, 2011.  She looked to be about three years old.  Jayden was severely malnourished and had fresh burns on her arms and legs and had lost the ability to stand and walk.  Neighbors reported the case to the police and she was quickly brought to us.  She is now learning to stand and walk again and is on a special diet. Our prayer is that she will recover well, physically and emotionally and regain her strength. We also will pray that God will heal her family.
