My name is Veronika. I was born in 1992 and I am 14 years old. I am the second born in our family. I am doing grade seven at True Gospel Community School (an Alliance for Children Everywhere Faith Works School). I live in the capitol city of Zambia, Lusaka, with my mother’s elder sister. We stay in a three room house. My real mother was born in 1971 and she died in 2002 and my real father was born in 1969 and he died in 2000. In our family we were three – two boys and one girl. Two boys died and I remain alone.
After the death of my parents, I started to stay with my mother’s elder sister. In 2003, I started grade three. I continued until grade 5. Then I stopped going to school just because of lack of money. I stayed home a few months and I started again at True Gospel Community School where it is free.
The time when I reached grade 6 is when my grandmother died. It was on 21st April 2005. My ambition is to be a doctor. When I become a doctor, I want to be taking care of my relatives if they are sick and even people in another place.
I really thank the teachers from the school I go to. They are serious about their work. Before, I didn’t know anything, but they even encouraged me about my future.
Twenty-five dollars will sponsor a child, like Veronica, in a Faith Works School. |
