My name is Veronika. I am 14 years old. I am the second born in our family. I am doing grade seven at True Gospel Community School (an Alliance for Children Everywhere Faith Works School). I live in the capitol city of Zambia, Lusaka with my mother’s elder sister. We stay in a three room house. My real mother died eight years ago and my real father died two years after that. In our family we were three – two boys and one girl. Both of my brothers died and I remain alone.
After the death of my parents, I started to stay with my mother’s elder sister. In 2003, I started grade three. I continued until grade 5. Then I stopped going to school just because of lack of money. I stayed home a few months and I started again at True Gospel Community School where it is free.
The time when I reached grade 6 is when my grandmother died. It was on 21st April 2005. My ambition is to be a doctor. When I become a doctor, I want to be taking care of my relatives if they are sick and even people in another place.
I really thank the teachers from the school I go to. They are serious about their work. Before, I didn’t know anything, but they even encouraged me about my future.
Twenty-five dollars will sponsor a child, like Veronica, in a Faith Works School. |
