Congratulations to five HDCS students who scored among the highest in the nation last year. Their performance is even more amazing considering the fact that the children at HDCS are the very poor, many of them orphans who are overcoming tremendous odds. They have grasped this chance to get an education and are making the most of it. Below, read the stories of four other HDCS students who are awaiting sponsors. If you are interested in sponsoring one or more of them, please follow the links below. Thanks to a generous donation, we have been able to accept these children into our school, however, we must find sponsors for them so that they can continue through high school.
My name is Lameck Banda. I am one of 5 children, we live with our mother. Our father died when I was a child. We live in a 3 room house. I am in the 8th grade at Helen DeVos Christian school and I like this school very much. The teachers are very nice and help me a lot. I need a sponsor so I can stay in school. I hope you will be my sponsor.

 Hi my name is Monica Mwanza. I was born August 29th of 1994. I am now in the 8th grade. My favorite subjects are civics, science and history. I hope to one day be an accountant. My hobbies are going to church, making friends and reading books.
Both of my parents died and I live with my grandmother. I am one of 6 children. There are 3 boys and 3 girls. My grandmother does her best taking care of us all. We eat one meal a day sometimes two. I need a sponsor to stay in school, I pray you will choose me.

 My name is Jacqueline Nowanga. I am 15 years old and in grade 8 at Helen DeVos Christian School. I live with my parents and 6 siblings. My father does not work and my mother sells vegetables at the market. I am hoping and praying for a sponsor to help with my education. It is hard for my mother to pay the fees for me. I like all my subjects, I like school very much. My ambition is to one day be a doctor so I can help sick people.

Hello, my name is Peter Phiri. I was born in 1995, I am 15 years old. I have only a mother, my father died in 2000. I used to live with my mother but moved in with my sister who lives close to the Helen DeVos Christian school. My sister heard about this great school and she came and got me and is helping pay my fees. This is not easy for her so I am hoping you will consider being my sponsor. My wish is to continue my education and become a lawyer or accountant.
