The Bill and Bette Bryant Learning Center of Joy!

preschoolSeveral women from Gainesville Presbyterian Church in Georgia visited the Alliance for Children Everywhere ministries in Lusaka three years ago.  One of the needs they saw was at the Bill and Bette Bryant Crisis Nursery where the children were using one of the bedrooms in the house as a classroom.  It was crowded and not very exciting, but these wonderful ladies decided they could change that!

When the visitors returned home they formed a group called “Sisters of Zambia” to support the Bill and Bette Bryant Crisis Nursery.  Their determination that the children should have a “real” school did not lessen.  They got busy, set out a strategy and made it happen.  Money was raised from yard sales, selling plaques and telling the story.  Their voice went as far as New Jersey, where another friend joined in the effort.

Last month the Sisters travelled to Zambia once again to dedicate the new building, bring the learning materials and set up play stations.  They didn’t allow the children to come into the classroom until the walls were brightly painted and educational toys were in place.  When the children did enter the school on the day of the dedication they were so excited they could not stand still.  Their overflowing joy spilled over to everyone there.

There is no longer any problem getting the children to go to school.  Now they don’t want to leave!  The LEARNING CENTER OF JOY is awesome – and certainly one of a kind in Zambia! dONATE
