Baby Brian

Christmas Mall

Brian's mother is eleven years old. Last week she had come to the clinic at the hospital complaining of a sudden onset of stomach pains. She was in labor. A few hours later she gave birth to Brian, a healthy, though underweight infant. Brian's young mother was kept in the hospital, but three days after he was born she simply walked out.

When House of Moses was contacted to pick up 4 day old Brian, we hesitated. We already had thirty babies and our budget was stretched almost to the breaking point. But to turn away a baby who had no family and no hope was unthinkable. Two of the older babies were put into one crib and Brian has a safe, nurturing place at House of Moses.

During devotions Monday morning the nurse asked special prayer for little Brian. It is heartbreaking to see such a tiny little life all alone in the world. The nurse told his story. One of our young teachers is also named Brian. He was asked to lead prayers for Baby Brian.

After our prayer time the teacher Brian, who just graduated from college last year, was found upstairs in the preemie nursery bending over Baby Brian's crib praying, with tears running down his face. "I will watch out for you," he promised. "I will make sure everything is alright for you."

This tender hearted young man does not have the means to care for a child. Yet, he sends us a clear message. We cannot turn a deaf ear to the cries of orphaned infants. It costs so little for us to bring life-saving help. The cost is unthinkable if we don't.
